The Role

Job Summary

  • Know the menu and drinks being served.  Be able to knowledgeably explain the major ingredients and preparation methods.
  • Ensure to use proper hand washing procedures and to maintain high standard of personal hygiene.
  • Ensure to maintain minimum clean and polished par stock for all china, silverware and glasses.
  • Ensure to follow daily/weekly side duties for server.
  • Ensure to follow proper cash handling procedures Ensure to follow proper tip out policy according to LSOP.
  • Assist hostess/Supervisor to answer phone calls with in three rings and seat the guests as they arrive. 
  • Acknowledge and respond to all guests’ requests and complaints.  Ensure your tables and side stands (or any area you are responsible for) are kept clean and well maintained throughout your shift. 
  • Closing servers will be responsible for a designated shift to ensure all side duties are completed according to the restaurant standard.

The Individual

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Must have 1 year prior experience as a Restaurant Server.
  • Ability to verbally communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
  • Proven knowledge of proper serving etiquette.
  • Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • To have a neat, professional appearance and outgoing people oriented personality which conveys pride in working for Marriott and which is demonstrated by a ready smile and a willingness to assist others.
  • Knowledge of Spirits, Wines Beer and Liqueurs
  •  “Alberta Server Intervention Program” course completion is an asset
  • Superior customer skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and to formulate plans to overcome challenges and make sound, logical decisions
  • Outgoing, people-oriented personality demonstrated by a ready smile and a willingness to assist our guests and associates
  • Maintain neat, professional appearance, demeanour, ethics and self image
